## Radon gas is a problem in many Colorado Homes

### Most of Colorado sits in the EPA zone 1 (red zone) for radon potential

From the Front Range to the Western Slope, radon is a serious threat to homes, schools and buildings in the State of Colorado. Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs are city centers that have been on the forefront of the radon issue since it was discovered that radon is a problem in homes.

The USEPA has produced a map to describe radon potential in states throughout the country. Click the map for more Colorado Radon info.

## What is Radon Gas?

Radon gas is a deadly, naturally occurring gas that comes from the soil. When uranium decays, the radioactive decay process eventually produces radon gas. Radon gas can seep into homes and buildings from the cracks, voids and openings in the foundation.
